Chilean Designer Ruben Campos Boasts About Canceling His Show in New York at Last Minute
 
In a devious and reprehensible attempt to garner press coverage, Chilean fashion designer Ruben Campos has brought negative attention and publicity to himself. Mr. Campos recently boasted to “Las Ultimas Noticias” newspaper in Santiago that he canceled his scheduled fashion show at Couture Fashion Week New York on September 11, 2016 because he was not satisfied with the models for his show. What he neglected to mention was that he himself selected the models for his show the previous day and never expressed any dissatisfaction with them at that time. In his interview with LAN, Mr. Campos claims the models were too short, and that he requires models a minimum 1.75 meters tall (5’8”). According to Couture Fashion Week producer Andres Aquino, all the models Mr. Campos selected were between 5’9” and 6’. Mr. Campos also claims he fitted the models on Saturday with the dresses to be shown on Sunday. This is not true. He did not bring the dresses to the fitting on Saturday, as is the standard procedure when preparing for an important fashion show. And if he claims to have fitted the models on Saturday, why did he do that if the models were not up to his standards? And why did he not mention his complaint to the event producer and staff during the fitting? There were more than enough models on hand during the fitting, so if some did not meet his requirements, there were plenty of alternates available.
 
Mr. Campos showed an arrogant un-professionalism with his last minute cancellation. He never had the courtesy to notify the event organizers that he was pulling out. Staff frantically tried to reach Mr. Campos for several hours when he did not show up on Sunday afternoon with the dresses to be shown on the runway. Models were waiting with their hair and makeup done, the audience was literally seated, the press was ready to cover the show with anticipation. Couture Fashion Week associate Pierre Dulanto of Moda Total, even had a special music mix prepared and cued to play during Mr. Campos’s show. Finally, a few minutes before the show was scheduled to begin, Mr. Campos decided to contact the producer and casually say he decided not to show. Needless to say, this caused a huge number of problems. Event staff scrambled to call in some additional performers, and the Elie Esper Salon, long time Couture Fashion Week Official Hair Stylists, stepped in to show some dazzling hair creations for the audience who had been looking forward to seeing the designs of Ruben Campos. The event producer had to apologize and offer the audience access to another show and the after party as compensation, which represents a monetary hit to the event.
 
Mr. Campos’s complete lack of respect for the hard-working models, hair and makeup artists, event producer, audience and press is shocking. Thousands of dollars in pre-event promotion, preparation and sales efforts for Mr. Campos’s show were done by Couture Fashion Week. He seems proud of how badly he treated all the people involved, and even boasted that he has done this type of thing several times before. By playing the diva extraordinare, Mr. Campos brought great distress to the young women dreaming of their catwalk moment. One of the models who traveled to New York for the event was extremely upset, saying “My parents flew in from California and spent lots of money on travel and hotel to see me on the runway, only to find out at the last minute that Mr. Campos decided to cancel the show.” And like her, many other models did not commit to walk in other shows because they were selected to be in Mr. Campos’s show.
 
Over 250 press organizations cover Couture Fashion Week, and the attending audience was around 350 people for Mr. Campos’s show. This season the event is also being covered by ZEE TV with a global reach over 1 billion viewers.

Taking a road  trip is a way to escape the oppressive heat of the Valley of the Sun and it is also an excellent way to  have fun. For many individuals, motorcycles represent a thrilling and fun alternative to automobiles.  Hastings & Hastings acknowledges that there is little better than hitting the open road on the back of a  motorcycle. However, motorcycles do pose unique safety concerns. Accidents involving motorcycles are  often quite severe, and have a high likelihood of result in major injury or death. Institute of Dance Artistry Announces New Plymouth Meeting PA Studio Party

The Institute of Dance Artistry is pleased to announce our New Studio Party, celebrating the grand opening of IDA’s brand new Plymouth Meeting studio. Dancers and dance parents get to meet our professional dance teachers, have some food and some fun. You also get the opportunity to take advantage of open registration for IDA fall classes.

 We liked the idea so much we decided to do it twice. The first party takes place on Sunday, August 28th from 11 AM to 1 PM. The second party takes place Monday night, August 29th from 6 PM to 8PM. IDA Plymouth Meeting is located at 37 E. Germantown Pike (Whitemarsh Commons) in Plymouth Meeting, PA. A private parking lot with plenty of space is adjacent to the studio.

 Our new IDA Plymouth Meeting location features; 3 beautiful spacious studios, a comfortable parent waiting area and a cozy dancer lounge. Because IDA Plymouth Meeting is now conveniently located on E. Germantown Pike there is easy access and we have plenty of parking.

 IDA Plymouth Meeting also services Conshohocken, Blue Bell, Lafayette Hill, East and West Norriton, Center Square, Norristown and other surrounding communities. All IDA teachers have a degree in dance. All classes are taught by professional dancers and choreographer from the Greater Philadelphia area.

Dr. Michael K. Obeng will preform a miraculous surgery on Sarjo Trawally, a 4-year-old girl from Gambia with a life threatening facial Cystic Hygroma

After careful, strategically planned trips to four countries this summer, Dr. Obeng was touched and moved by 4-year-old Sarjo with her disfigured face. Dr. Obeng has arranged for Sarjo to come to United States where he will do what may seem by millions as impossible. Sarjo arrives in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 11, 2016, which is when her transformation will begin. Dr. Obeng was born with the gift himself, to touch and change lives, faces, bodies etc. of many, with no means whatsoever to handle the cost for these surgeries. Dr. Obeng, through his charity, R.E.S.T.O.R.E., Restoring Emotional Stability Through Outstanding Reconstructive Efforts, and donations from the kindhearted, has been able to donate 100% of all services free for all surgeries that he and his select staff performs either on tour or case by case here in Beverly Hills, CA.

Dr. Obeng came to Midwestern State University (MSU) from Ghana. He saw a flyer about the university in a friend’s dorm room and knew it was in Texas, but that was all. While an MSU student, Dr. Obeng laid carpet, worked for Golden Corral, and drove a school bus for the Wichita Falls Independent School District. His bed was one he rescued from someone else’s trash, and he and his roommate alternated sleeping on it and the floor. After his first semester at MSU, he got a job at the Moffett Library and eventually landed a job as a residence assistant that paid his room and board, a big relief for a struggling student.

Dr. Obeng earned his Bachelor of Science from MSU in 1997, graduating cum laude with a major in Chemistry and a double minor in Mathematics & Biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed post-graduate work in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy Hospitals and The Shriner’s Hospital for Children before accepting a fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Obeng is currently the Director of his own private practice, MiKO Plastic Surgery and MiKO Surgery Center in Beverly Hills, California while also serving on staff at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Obeng is a noted author and lecturer on healthcare disparities around the globe. He has received numerous honors, awards and recognition for his professional achievements including a research grant from the National Institute of Health and the Herman A. Barnett Memorial Award for Excellence in Surgery and Anesthesia. His professional society memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.

Dr. Obeng recently launched a consulting firm, Global Health Solution, which is aimed to bridge the gap between morbidity and healthy living in developing countries. He believes a “Healthy country is a wealthy country.”

In Ghana, Dr. Obeng saw the pain caused by physical deformities, and the helplessness of those afflicted as they lived with their situation with no money, and too few qualified physicians to have the problem corrected. To resolve this issue, he then formed R.E.S.T.O.R.E. Worldwide, Inc. in 2008 (Restoring Emotional Stability Through Outstanding Reconstructive Efforts) to help those people and others in need. Since its inception in 2008 R.E.S.T.O.R.E.’s volunteer teams have traveled to 7 countries, including Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Mexico and Nigeria performing over 200 reconstructive surgeries worth over $ 5,000,000 USD and all on a pro-bono basis. Dr. Obeng credits the giving spirit of teachers, advisers, and fellow students during his time at Midwestern State University, The University of Texas and Harvard for instilling in him the need to help others. “I won’t forget where it all started,” he said.

About R.E.S.T.O.R.E.: R.E.S.T.O.R.E. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit medical service organization that provides free reconstructive surgery and related medical services to children and adults with disfiguring deformities from birth, accidents and diseases. Many developing countries shun those afflicted with disfiguring deformities and look upon them as outcasts or “freaks”. Often their own families hide them from the general public to spare them from either being ridiculed or physically harmed because of their disfigured appearance.

Although there is an overwhelming need for plastic surgery in developing countries, these types of surgeries are not available because there are no personnel trained to provide the necessary surgeries. As part of the organizations mission they seek to educate and train local physicians in the techniques necessary to perpetuate their initial work to continually benefit more people for years to come.
